On Friday, 29 May in the evening, a serious road accident occurred in the Kolkáreň local district in the village of Podbrezová. A private motor vehicle crashed directly into one of the local residential buildings. The information was reported by the Pluska.sk portal.

Behind the wheel was a 27-year-old man who, according to preliminary police findings, apparently failed to adjust his speed to the current road conditions. He subsequently left the road and crashed into the residential building.

There were two other passengers in the vehicle at the time of the collision. A 68-year-old passenger suffered no injuries, but a 19-year-old female passenger was transported from the scene of the accident to hospital in Brezno.

Police officers at the scene measured more than two per mille of alcohol in the driver's blood. They immediately confiscated his driving licence. The Regional Police Headquarters in Banská Bystrica stated on social media that criminal proceedings are already underway in the case. The man was charged with the offence of endangering under the influence of an addictive substance.
