According to atv.hu, the Banská Bystrica Specialised Criminal Court has remanded two 15-year-old Bratislava secondary school students in custody, suspected of preparing premeditated murder. The authorities say the two boys intended to kill one of their classmates.
Citing the Topky.sk portal, the two suspects were transported to Banská Bystrica on Friday evening under armed police escort. They arrived at court in handcuffs and were escorted into the courtroom by commandos.
The court examined each of the juveniles separately. During the hearing, the parents were also present, where various guarantees and written commitments were discussed that might have made detention avoidable – however, the court rejected these.
Following the proceedings, which lasted more than four hours, the court partially upheld the prosecutor's motion, which cited, among other things, the risk of flight. Both boys were remanded in custody. Their legal representatives filed an appeal, so the Supreme Court may make the final decision in the case.
Martina Šemetková, a spokeswoman for the Bratislava District Police Corps, stated that further details of the incident cannot be made public at this time in the interests of the investigation. The two young men were returned to the detention facility following the hearing.
