An investigator in Trenčín remanded two men, aged 34 and 20, in custody. They face charges of attempted robbery, which took place on Monday morning at a petrol station near a shopping centre.
According to police findings, the pair had agreed in advance to rob the facility. They arrived at the scene in the early hours. The younger man remained sitting in a car while his older accomplice, wearing camouflage and carrying a weapon, approached the building.
Despite the entrance doors being locked, the perpetrator attacked them. He fired at the lower part of the doors, damaging the glass panel. However, he did not get inside. Both men then fled.
Police caught them the following day. They established that the men had planned to take money from the cash register under threat of the weapon. They failed to complete the robbery. The owner suffered damage exceeding 700 euros.
The prosecutor submitted a proposal for remanding both men in custody. A judge will decide on this. If they are found guilty, they face imprisonment for seven to twelve years.
