Biape received a state grant for cryptocurrency research. According to the SME newspaper, however, its official owner from Poland may be a fictitious person. Behind the scenes is a controversial mayor from an eastern Slovak village.

Biape received a commitment for a grant of 1.2 million euros from the Ministry of Investment. Officially, it was for experimental research in the field of virtual currencies. According to information from the SME newspaper, however, the real identity of its owner remains a major mystery.
The owner of the company is allegedly a Polish citizen named Stanisław Witkowski. Journalistic investigation, however, suggests that this person may not exist at all. The entire case is moreover complicated around the village of Orechová near the Ukrainian border, where a series of strange events has been taking place.
In October 2022, shortly before municipal elections, the police unit NAKA arrested the local mayor here. Rastislav Repka faced charges of drug-related criminal activity. Despite this, two days later he won the elections.
During his tenure, entrepreneurs from abroad began arriving at the office. Czechs and Poles came with Slovak companies and requested verification of signatures of company executives. Most of these companies had previously been controlled by a certain Gabriel Boško.
When the mayor was later finally convicted and lost his position, a stamp from a Prague notary appeared in the documents of Boško's companies. That notary, however, stated that his signature was forged.
Boško appears in the business register for approximately thirty companies. Many of them were later transferred to foreign citizens. Behind dozens of other companies are his relatives – his nephew Lukáš Boško and his mother Gabriela Bošková.
The ministry has not yet sent the grant. The reason is an ongoing inspection and a minor debt to the state administration.
