Fraudulent SMS in Slovakia: fake messages from DPD courier service steal card data
Fraudsters are sending SMS messages that impersonate the DPD courier service and lure victims to fake websites. The aim is to obtain payment information.
Fake SMS from "DPD" targeting customers' payment information
Nextech.sk is warning of a widespread wave of fraudulent SMS messages impersonating the DPD Slovakia courier company. Fraudsters are abusing its name and visual identity, counting on the fact that a large number of people regularly use DPD delivery services.
The message typically informs recipients of suspended delivery due to a missing house number and urges them to provide the information and pay a small fee. The text and graphical design closely replicate the style of genuine DPD communication.
After clicking on the attached link, a fake website appears, whose sole purpose is to obtain the payment card number and other sensitive information. The intent is clear — to create a sense of urgency and force the recipient to act without thinking.
DPD does not send such SMS messages. The company does not request payments or information provision in this manner.
Currently known fraudulent addresses
The following fake domains are currently recorded, with their number continuing to grow:
- `dpdsk.my.id/sk`
- `dpdpd.icu/sk`
- `dpdsk.biz.id/sk`
- `dpdcom.bond/sk`
The scam also arrives by email
In addition to SMS messages, fraudulent emails are circulating that abuse the identity of DPD Slovakia. They report alleged customs duty obligations and request payment of customs duty via an attached link. DPD does not send such notifications to customers — this is fraudulent communication with the same objective: to obtain payment or personal information.
What to do if you have already provided information
If you have filled out any form on a suspicious website, immediately contact your bank and request that your payment card be blocked. The sooner you act, the greater the chance of preventing unauthorised transactions.
The authenticity of any message from DPD can be verified exclusively through the company's official website or customer support at [email protected].
