Fraudsters impersonate police officers in Rimavská Sobota
Police warn of a new telephone scam in which perpetrators use the real names of officers and send false summonses.

As reported by Google News SK — Crime (sk), the Banská Bystrica regional police issued a warning on Monday on social media about a series of telephone scams recorded in Rimavská Sobota.
When contacting victims, perpetrators pose as a "criminal police director" or "district director". They claim that police have detected suspicious movements on the caller's bank account, or that someone wants to take out a loan in their name.
The fraudsters use the real names of police officers, which are publicly available on the website of the Ministry of Interior. Police do not rule out that perpetrators may change the names of the police officers mentioned or the names of directorates.
"Currently, fraudsters are also sending false summonses to appear for questioning at the police station in Rimavská Sobota. They then call saying that if the person has to travel far to Rimavská Sobota, the questioning can be conducted by telephone instead," police stated.
Police emphasised that they never request login or payment details by telephone or via WhatsApp or Signal applications, money transfers, cash withdrawals or the surrender of valuables. Similarly, they do not send summonses or other official documents in this manner and do not prove their identity by sending a copy of a service identification card.
If someone contacts you in this manner, police recommend ending the communication immediately and verifying the situation by calling the emergency line 158.
