Police in Nitra warn of cryptocurrency fraud

Nitra police have issued a warning against fraudsters who target cryptocurrency trading. Authorities advise people to immediately break off communication in case of suspicious contact.

Fraudsters often approach victims with offers of profitable investments in digital currencies. After establishing contact, they attempt to convince interested parties to install unverified applications on their phones. Subsequently, they demand login credentials for online banking, which allows them to gain access to the victims' funds.

Police therefore appeal to the public not to install programmes from unknown sources on their mobile devices. They similarly warn against entering online banking login credentials in connection with offers to invest in cryptocurrencies.
