Two law enforcement officers from Trebišov allegedly stopped drivers during their off-duty time, imposed sanctions on them and kept the money for themselves. During their detention, an inspection caught them off guard during physical tests.

Investigators from the interior ministry's inspection division have charged two law enforcement officers working in Trebišov district. According to official findings, they stopped drivers during their personal time and outside their place of work, while imposing financial sanctions on them.
The sums obtained were allegedly kept by them and not recorded in state databases. Investigators believe that in this way they abused the trust of drivers and their position as public officials.
The operation against both suspects took place during internal physical checks. The inspection, in cooperation with a tactical unit, detained them directly during these tests. The accused remain at liberty. If the court finds them guilty, they could face two to five years in prison.
