Police warn of fraudulent SMS messages in the name of the interior ministry
Slovak police have issued a warning about fraudulent SMS messages in which senders pose as the interior ministry. The information was reported by the portal Felvidék.ma.
These text messages appear to be official notices. Their aim is to persuade the recipient to click on a link in the message, through which fraudsters would obtain their personal data. Police announced this on their social media page.
The authorities strongly advise citizens never to click on such links. People should not enter their payment card details or internet banking login credentials. Police also warned against urgent calls to immediate action, which are a typical sign of fraudulent messages.
At the same time, police are asking the public to inform their relatives and acquaintances about this danger.
