According to Ľubomír Andrássy, Slovakia has become a stronghold for groups that parasitise on European subsidies. Almost 29 billion euros have arrived in the country over 21 years.

Slovakia has transformed, according to the head of the Supreme Audit Office Ľubomír Andrássy, into a territory where groups with their own interests profit from European sources. In an interview with Aktuality.sk, he stated that structures have emerged here that resemble mafia organisations, which have made a goldmine out of European Union funds.
Over two decades of EU membership, approximately 29 billion euros have flowed into our territory. According to the head of the audit office, however, the management of these finances received a very negative evaluation. The same patterns of failure repeat themselves regardless of which political administration is currently running the departments. Money is drawn down at the last minute, without connection to measurable results and often without added value.
The SAI points out that numerous corruption suspicions are also mounting. Andrássy designated the non-functional Agricultural Payments Agency as a symbol of the system's collapse, as well as cases surrounding so-called haciendas. Auditors are establishing the breakdown of management structures for European funds.
According to the head of the office, the country is unable to utilise the money that Brussels offers it. Despite the fact that the state is consolidating budgets, debt continues to rise and European sources are being drawn down chaotically.
