A massive police operation codenamed APUS has been underway in the Bratislava region since early morning. The elite National Anti-Drug Unit is involved in the action. Its aim is to dismantle groups that illegally distribute substances for muscle building and other doping products.
The case is being investigated as organised pharmaceutical crime. Specifically, it concerns suspicion of illegal handling of hormonal and anabolic preparations. Police are searching flats, offices and other premises in the capital and its surroundings. During the raid, they have already detained one person whom they suspect of involvement in this trade.
Details about the scope of the network or the number of suspects are not yet known. If guilt can be proven, the perpetrators face severe sentences including lengthy imprisonment.
