Operation VALEC in Poprad and Svit: Three men charged with methamphetamine distribution
The National Anti-Drug Unit arrested four individuals and charged three men with unlawful drug trafficking. They face 7 to 15 years in prison.
Anti-drug operation in Poprad and Svit: four arrested, three charged
The National Anti-Drug Unit of the Police Force Presidium conducted a major operation against suspected drug dealers in eastern Slovakia on Tuesday, 7 July 2026. According to Nový Čas, the operation, codenamed VALEC, took place in the cities of Poprad and Svit.
During the operation, police arrested four individuals and carried out four house searches along with seven searches of other premises. They seized drugs, mobile telephones and other items that may be connected to drug-related criminal activity. The seized material is awaiting expert examination.
An investigator from the National Anti-Drug Unit subsequently charged three men, aged between 36 and 44 years, with the crime of unlawful production and trafficking of narcotic and psychotropic substances. According to police, they were alleged to have distributed primarily methamphetamine in Poprad and its surroundings over an extended period.
If convicted, the three accused men face a sentence of deprivation of liberty for seven to fifteen years. The investigator also filed a motion for their remand in custody.
In addition to the National Anti-Drug Unit, the operation involved officers from the rapid response police unit, criminal investigators from Poprad, forensic technicians and a police dog handler. The investigation of the case continues.
