Samuel S. sentenced to 25 years for murder at secondary school in Spišská Stará Ves
The Specialised Criminal Court in Pezinok imposed a 25-year sentence on Samuel S. for the January attack at the secondary school. Two people died in the attack.

The Specialised Criminal Court (ŠTS) in Pezinok on Wednesday found Samuel S. guilty of premeditated murder committed at the secondary school in Spišská Stará Ves, according to startitup.sk. The court imposed a 25-year sentence of imprisonment with the maximum level of security. The judgment has not yet become final.
In addition to the sentence of imprisonment, the court imposed on the defendant a sentence of forfeiture of property, protective psychiatric treatment in outpatient form, and protective supervision for three years. Samuel S. is also obliged to compensate the injured parties for ten-thousand damage. As for the remainder of their claims, the court referred the injured parties to civil proceedings.
The attack occurred on 16 January 2025. In the attack, the deputy headmistress of the school and one pupil lost their lives, whilst another schoolgirl sustained injuries. Police charged the 18-year-old student with premeditated murder, and the court decided to remand him in custody, where he remains to this day.
The prosecution for the particularly serious crime of premeditated murder was filed at the end of January 2026 by a prosecutor from the Regional Prosecution Office in Prešov. Samuel S. does not deny committing the act, but disagrees with its legal classification as stated in the indictment.
