Former Slovak model Broňa Gregušová has publicly spoken about alleged abuse by Cuban-Colombian actor Mario Cimarro. The couple lived together for seven years, became engaged, married in secret, and have a daughter. The relationship ended after Gregušová contacted police, who detained the actor.
According to her account, the actor's behaviour worsened over time. It initially involved psychological manipulation and control, but later escalated to physical assault. Gregušová stated that the actor was able to hide this side of his personality from the public for many years. She shares her experiences on the podcast Sisters Unmasked, which she hosts together with her sister.
The portal diva.aktuality.sk notes that the actor had problems with aggressive behaviour previously. Mexican actress Ninel Conde described to the American magazine People how Cimarro assaulted her during the filming of a telenovela. Conde stated that the actor first verbally attacked her and then hit her, with other crew members witnessing the incident.
In 2008, the actor allegedly threatened colleagues from production company Telemundo with a weapon. Following this incident, the company ended their collaboration with him. Three years later, he was given another opportunity, but lost it again due to inappropriate behaviour.
Television presenter Carmiňa Masi described another unpleasant experience with the actor. During their joint work on a television show, according to her, the actor behaved unpleasantly and arrogantly. After one conflict, management even forbade her from communicating with him. Masi stated that the actor threw mandarin orange peels at her under the table during the broadcast, which viewers could not see.
Whilst in Slovakia the actor is being written about in connection with violence, in Spanish-language media he continues to be frequently presented as a beloved star from the telenovela Hidden Passion.
