Police from the anti-drug unit conducted a large raid on Tuesday with the codename Valec in the area around Poprad and Svit. Officers from Prešov, Bardejov and forensic technicians also took part in the operation.

During the early morning raid, four individuals were arrested and four flats as well as seven additional premises were searched. Spokesperson for the police force Roman Hájek stated that they found addictive substances, mobile devices and further evidence related to illegal trading. The seized material will be subjected to expert examination.

On the basis of evidence gathered, an investigator charged three men aged 36 to 44 with committing a serious crime – the illegal production and sale of narcotic and psychotropic substances. According to police, the group had long supplied the Poprad region with methamphetamine, which they sold to customers for money.

If the court proves their guilt, they face deprivation of liberty for seven to fifteen years. The ongoing investigation is hampered by the disclosure of further details.
