Machete attack to the face in Šaľa: 33-year-old aggressor remanded in custody
In Šaľa, a man attacked a 51-year-old with a machete to the face following a verbal altercation. The suspect was apprehended and a judge remanded him in custody.
Machete to the face: attacker from SNP Street ends up in custody
Nový Čas reports that police officers from Šaľa were dispatched in recent days to SNP Street in the town of Šaľa, where an attack with a bladed weapon had occurred. They arrived together with a municipal police patrol.
The suspect man allegedly first engaged in a verbal altercation with the victim, after which a physical attack followed. The man then struck the victim with a machete in the area of the face. The 51-year-old victim suffered extensive injuries.
Members of the municipal police placed handcuffs on the suspect at the scene. Police officers meanwhile provided the injured man with emergency first aid and secured the attacker's weapon. Thanks to the swift intervention of the responding police officers, as well as random bystanders, they managed to keep the injured man conscious until the arrival of the emergency medical service.
An investigator from the Police Force brought charges against the 33-year-old man for the offence of causing bodily harm in a single set of offences concurrent with the misdemeanour of disorderly conduct. A judge for preparatory proceedings subsequently remanded the accused in custody.
If found guilty, the accused faces a prison sentence of between five and twelve years.
