On Friday (10 July) in the evening in the Nitra-Dražovce municipal district, a dangerous situation unfolded in which a man behind the wheel attempted to evade police control. The consequences resulted in injury to a law enforcement officer. Details were reported by Topky.

A patrol from the rapid motorised unit attempted to stop a Škoda Superb car. However, the driver ignored the acoustic signal and continued driving. The uniformed officers therefore began pursuit.

The car, from which the driver was fleeing, left the road for unexplained reasons and ended up in a ditch. Due to swirling dust, the police vehicle was unable to brake in time. It skidded and overturned onto the car that had fled in front of it.

The man who attempted to evade being stopped was subjected to a breathalyser test. It showed a reading of 1.65 per mille. Police officers detained him. He faces charges of committing the offence of endangerment under the influence of a narcotic substance.

An ambulance crew treated two injured persons and transported them to a healthcare facility. Their condition was stabilised and they remained conscious. One of the police officers sustained injuries so severe that he could not perform his duties. This fact was confirmed by Jana Šinková, spokeswoman for the regional police in Nitra.
