A Trenčín investigator has charged a 55-year-old man with the murder of his 54-year-old wife. The alleged incident occurred on Friday evening under the influence of alcohol.

A Trenčín regional police investigator has brought charges against a 55-year-old man in connection with the murder of his 54-year-old wife, which allegedly occurred on Friday 28 August in the evening in one of the municipalities in Trenčín district. As reported by Google News SK — Crime (sk), the case was announced on Sunday by regional police spokeswoman Ingrid Krajčíková.
According to the investigation so far, the charged man allegedly approached his wife at their residence and inflicted a single stab wound to the upper part of her body with a sharp object. The woman died as a result of this injury. Krajčíková stated that the exact nature of the attack had not yet been fully clarified.
Police dealt with the case intensively according to the spokeswoman and carried out all necessary procedural steps to clarify the facts. The investigator from the criminal police department of the Regional Police Directorate in Trenčín charged the man with committing a particularly serious crime of murder.
A motion was drawn up against the charged man to request his remand in custody and the case file was handed over to the prosecutor for further proceedings. In the event that guilt is proven, the charged man faces a sentence of 20 to 25 years imprisonment.
