Murder of pregnant Karin from Partizánske: expert to testify at court about accused's mental state

Nový Čas reports that proceedings in the case of the murder of 20-year-old pregnant Karin from Partizánske continue on 28 September 2026 before the District Court in Trenčín. A key point of these proceedings is to be the testimony of court expert psychologist Dušan Kešický, who will comment on the mental state of accused Jozef (21).
The incident itself occurred on Saturday, 30 August 2025. According to the charges, Jozef arrived by bicycle at a family home on Bezručova Street and opened fire. Pregnant Karin was allegedly shot four times in the back — the woman died from her injuries at the scene. He also directed fire at her 38-year-old partner Martin, the son of a local shoemaking businessman, who was transported by helicopter to hospital in serious condition. Police detained the attacker shortly after the incident directly in his flat.
The investigator charged Jozef with the particularly serious crime of murder, with the act being completed in one part against a protected person and in another part remaining at the stage of attempted murder.
The proceedings have been emotionally tense from the outset. The family and close ones of murdered Karin demand the most severe possible sentence for the accused — life imprisonment. The final verdict, however, will also depend on the results of expert evidence, including precisely the anticipated testimony of the expert. Nový Čas further reports that Jozef has had problems with fellow inmates in prison.
The testimony of psychologist Kešický may bring a fundamental turning point to the case — its content will be decisive for assessing the degree of criminal responsibility of the accused.
