Hurbanovo: sixteen years after murder, another suspect emerges

The case of the murder in Hurbanovo from July 2010 remains unresolved even after more than sixteen years. According to ta3.com, an investigator has submitted a file to the prosecutor with a proposal to bring charges against another person.

Roman Hájek, spokesperson for the Presidium of the Police Force, confirmed that the lawful conviction of four people did not mean the end of the investigation. "The investigator continued to clarify the involvement of another person in the preparation of this act. The result is a proposal to bring charges," Hájek said.

One of the perpetrators was lawfully convicted to 25 years' deprivation of liberty for carrying out the murder itself. Three other individuals received sentences of 21 years each for participation in the criminal act.

According to the conclusions of the investigation, the newly accused person was to have participated in June 2010, together with other individuals, in monitoring the movement of the victim in Hurbanovo and the surrounding area. In this way, he was to have assisted in the preparation of the murder, which according to the spokesperson was to have been carried out on contract.

The case was concluded by an investigator from the anti-crime unit of the Office for the Fight Against Organised Crime of the Presidium of the Police Force. The file was submitted to the prosecutor with a proposal to bring charges for participation in a particularly serious crime of premeditated murder.

A competent court will decide on the guilt and possible sentence of the accused. "The police continue to clarify serious criminal activity with the aim of thoroughly investigating all circumstances of the case," Hájek added.
