Murder of woman near Trenčín: 55-year-old man charged with particularly serious crime
A 54-year-old woman died on Friday evening in a village in Trenčín district. Police detained a 55-year-old suspect and began criminal proceedings for murder.

On Friday 28 August, a 54-year-old woman died in one of the villages in Trenčín district. Police immediately dispatched officers to the scene upon receiving notification and restricted the personal liberty of a 55-year-old suspect, who was placed in police custody. An investigator initiated criminal proceedings concerning the particularly serious crime of murder, according to Nový Čas.
Regional police spokesperson Ingrid Krajčíková stated that the incident occurred in the evening hours. "The duty officer, immediately upon receiving notification, dispatched police patrols to the scene of the incident. Police officers in accordance with the law restricted the personal liberty of the 55-year-old suspect, who was placed in police custody," Krajčíková said.
An investigator from the criminal police department of the Regional Police Directorate of the Police Force in Trenčín initiated criminal proceedings, the spokesperson added. "At present, necessary procedural actions are being carried out to properly clarify the facts of the case. Given the ongoing investigation, it is not possible to provide further information," Krajčíková added.
The case comes shortly after another tragic case shocked Slovakia — the murder of teacher Zuzana from Gelnice, whose husband is the suspect.
