On 16 May 2019, the body of fifteen-year-old basketball player Tomáš Teličák was found in a flat in the Vlčince district in Žilina. Initial reports of an unknown intruder in work clothes gradually changed as investigators became convinced that the perpetrator had not left the flat from outside.

Police accused Tomáš's close acquaintance Judita Konečná, who had reached the age of sixteen at the time of the act. In clarifying the case, an emergency services recording and analysis of data from her mobile device helped. Expert reports further showed that injuries to her hands were sustained directly during the violent act, not whilst defending herself against an attack.

Žilina District Court sentenced the young woman to twelve years and four months in prison. This is the strictest sentence limit that can be imposed on a juvenile perpetrator. Judita Konečná has not confessed to the act and has not explained to this day why the young sportsman had to die.
