Maroš Žilinka has removed the head and deputy head of the district prosecutor's office in Spišská Nová Ves from their posts. He made the decision after reviewing the file concerning the husband of teacher Zuzana V. before her death. He published the information on social media.
According to his words, serious deficiencies emerged in the preceding proceedings. The investigation, which resulted in a criminal order against Tomáš V., did not proceed in accordance with applicable regulations. The act for which he was prosecuted was incorrectly assessed in legal terms. It should have concerned the abuse of a close person, not the crime of dangerous threats.
The teacher from Gelnica died on 20 June following an attack by her husband. He currently faces murder charges and remains in custody.
