Shooting incident in Land van Dijk: man arrested, firearm still not found
A man opened fire at night on an e-bike rider and taxi driver in the Paramaribo neighbourhood of Land van Dijk. The suspect has been arrested, but the weapon is missing.

A man was arrested by police in the night after allegedly firing shots from his house at an e-bike rider and a taxi driver at the intersection of Carolina and Theodorusstraat in the Paramaribo neighbourhood of Land van Dijk. This is reported by De Ware Tijd. The incident took place at approximately one o'clock at night.
The e-bike rider remained unharmed. The taxi was hit: a bullet hole was found in the right rear door of the vehicle.
The suspected shooter was apprehended shortly after the incident. However, no firearm was found during his arrest and the subsequent investigation, according to KPS spokesman Michael Elskamp. According to initial information, the man was under the influence.
Police are investigating the circumstances under which the shots were fired and are searching for the firearm used.
