Four men arrested for armed robbery in Paramaribo, firearm seized

Four masked men arrested after robbery at apartment complex in Paramaribo
The Paramaribo Regional Assistance Team (RBTP) arrested four suspects on Thursday 17 September 2026 in connection with an armed robbery on Riosiestraat, a side street off Frederikshoopweg. Police report this through politie.sr.
According to preliminary investigation, J.J.W. (22), D.H.V. (32), T.S.S. (26) and D.V.B. (31) attacked two individuals at a nearby apartment complex. The perpetrators wore masks and stole necklaces, mobile phones and money. During the robbery, the rear tyres of one of the victims' vehicle were shot at; no one was injured.
After intensive investigation, law enforcement officers boxed in the suspects' getaway vehicle at the intersection of Sagopalmstraat and Hoedenpalmstraat. Two suspects were detained on the spot; subsequently the remaining two came into view and were arrested. During the arrest, officers found part of the stolen goods, including a necklace.
During continuation of the investigation, police discovered a firearm. Both the weapon and the suspects' vehicle were seized. After consultation with the Public Prosecutor's Office, all four suspects were remanded in custody.
The case has been transferred to the Criminal Investigation Division of Central Suriname Region. Further arrests in this investigation are not ruled out.
