The Detective Unit of Region West undertook the investigation and identified 45-year-old B.J. as a suspect. On Friday 18 September, he was arrested near his residence on Sairanweg in Nickerie. The stolen money was not recovered during his arrest.
After consultation with the Public Prosecution Service, B.J. was remanded in custody. The Detective Unit of Region West is still investigating what happened to the stolen money and whether more individuals were involved in the robbery.
