A passenger transport worker was placed in police custody after being identified as the perpetrator of the murder of a man in the Pérez Castellanos area of Montevideo. The information was published by Montevideo Portal.

The death occurred during the afternoon of the previous Tuesday, when law enforcement agents discovered the lifeless body of a male on the street surface in the aforementioned neighbourhood. The deceased had an extensive criminal record, with eleven prior cases.

The arrest operation was carried out once investigators identified the vehicle that the driver used for his work. When interrogated, the accused provided explanations that were inconsistent with one another, which led to his provisional arrest.

Subsequently, on Wednesday morning, judicial officers entered the detainee's home pursuant to a search warrant. At the location, military materiel was discovered which included firearm projectiles and an explosive device of the grenade type.

The case was handed over to the Public Prosecutor's Office, which must resolve the procedural situation of the accused in the coming hours.
