Two arrested in search linked to vehicle theft in Montevideo
According to gub.uy, the Departmental Automotive Crimes Brigade of the Montevideo Police Directorate was investigating the theft of an automobile that occurred on 10 September at the intersection of Alejandro Fiol de Pereda and Avenida Millán. Analysis of surveillance footage and field work allowed officers to identify two people allegedly linked to the incident and the vehicle used in it.
On Monday 28th, police officers executed a judicial search warrant at a residence on Avenida Rivadavia. During the search, they seized a revolver, four precision scales, mobile telephones, clothing and documentation.
The CACTIR assisted in locating the vehicle under investigation as it was returning to the searched residence. A police team intercepted the vehicle, arrested its two occupants—against whom arrest warrants had been issued—and seized the car. The originally stolen vehicle was not recovered.
The 2nd Shift Flagrant Crime Prosecution Office ordered examinations of the intercepted vehicle and weapon, ordered documentation of proceedings and the transfer of both detainees to justice.
