A 28-year-old man murdered his 33-year-old partner in the Villa Española neighbourhood of Montevideo. The perpetrator attempted to present it as a suicide attempt, but investigators ruled out that version.

According to ladiaria.com.uy, the General Directorate of Complex Cases of the Interior Ministry is investigating a femicide that occurred on Tuesday in Montevideo. At around 22.40, a police patrol attended a residence at the intersection of Himalaya and 20 de Febrero streets, in the Villa Española neighbourhood, near Antel Arena.
Upon arrival, officers found that a 33-year-old woman had been taken to Pasteur hospital with sharp weapon wounds. Medical staff reported her death shortly after admission to the healthcare facility.
The perpetrator, a 28-year-old man, initially declared that the wounds corresponded to a suicide attempt by the victim. However, Interior Ministry investigators concluded that the injuries were not self-inflicted, ruling out that version of events.
The authorities are continuing with the investigation of the case under the charge of femicide.
