Montevideo: man arrested with ten outstanding warrants for bus robberies
A 36-year-old man was arrested on Sunday in Montevideo with ten outstanding warrants, seven of them linked to robberies of buses.
Man arrested with ten outstanding warrants after motorcycle pursuit
A 36-year-old man with a criminal record was arrested on Sunday morning in Montevideo, according to montevideo.com.uy. At the time of his arrest, he had ten outstanding warrants for robbery offences.
Seven of those warrants are linked to robberies against public transport buses, in accordance with a statement from the Montevideo Police Headquarters.
The detainee was travelling on a motorcycle with another person. When intercepted for a police check, the vehicle's driver disregarded the orders of the officers and did not stop. A few metres further on, the driver lost control at the corner of Sargento Patricio and Albéniz streets.
Both attempted to flee, but the uniformed officers managed to capture the 36-year-old man. The motorcycle was seized as it was subject to a warrant, as was a replica firearm found in his possession. Investigations are ongoing.
