According to teledoce.com, Interior Minister Carlos Negro held a meeting in recent hours with Montevideo's police leadership following the series of shootings affecting various points in the capital.
During the meeting, progress was reviewed on investigations into recent homicides, according to information provided by the Interior Ministry.
In response to the increase in violence, targeted operations were defined at different points in Montevideo. The procedures will be differentiated according to the neighbourhood and the type of armed confrontation that exists between rival gangs.
Additionally, it was decided to create an "operational command" that will meet daily, comprising Minister Negro himself along with directors and heads of areas such as Investigations, Homicides and special forces.
