A 24-year-old man with a criminal record was arrested in the early hours of Monday, 14 September at the intersection of Avenida del Tigre and Ruta 1 vieja, in Ciudad del Plata, according to sanjoseahora.com.uy based on communication No. 212/2026 from the San José Police Headquarters.
Officers from the Tactical Reserve Group of the High Operational Dedication Programme (GRT-PADO) were patrolling the area when they observed the man riding the two-wheeled vehicle and proceeded to identify him.
Upon checking the vehicle's details, the officers discovered that the motorcycle was registered as seized at a Montevideo police station. Coordination with that station confirmed that the registered motorcycle was indeed there, which raised suspicion that the vehicle inspected in Ciudad del Plata could be a cloned unit.
The Police seized the two-wheeled vehicle and arrested the man. The Attorney's Office for Freedom, Second Shift, was informed of the case and ordered the corresponding proceedings.
The investigation was assigned to the 10th Police Station of Ciudad del Plata. The police communication does not report any judicial decision regarding the detainee nor definitively confirm that the vehicle's cloning had been established.
