A 34-year-old woman died from stab wounds received during an alleged robbery in Ciudad Vieja, Montevideo, according to elpais.com.uy. The suspect, a 30-year-old man, was detained at the scene of the incident with the blade weapon in his possession.
According to the Montevideo Police Headquarters, officers carrying out operational tasks in the area were sent by the Unified Command Centre to the intersection of Treinta y Tres and Buenos Aires streets following a report of an ongoing robbery.
Upon arrival, the officers found the woman lying in the public street with a stab wound. At the same location, a man was wielding a knife and threatening another person. "The police ordered him to drop the weapon and proceeded to detain him," the official report states. The knife was seized as evidence.
The victim was taken in serious condition to a health centre in the area, where she was admitted to intensive care. Hours later she died, and the investigation was consequently classified as a homicide.

In the same hours, the Police are also investigating another homicide that occurred in Montevideo. An alert from the ShotSpotter system for gunfire detonations activated the deployment of personnel from Operation Dominio in the area of Senda 8 and Senda 21.
Officers found a 25-year-old man lying in the public street with multiple gunshot wounds. A member of a medical emergency service confirmed his death at the scene. The Police collected 9 mm calibre cartridge cases in the vicinity and are continuing to work based on this and other leads to clarify the crime.
