Anti-drugs operation in Mercedes and Montevideo results in 13 convictions, three of them minors

The Soriano Departmental Anti-drugs Brigade closed Operation Jaguar with 13 people convicted and two other defendants in preventive detention, according to information from subrayado.com.uy. The investigation targeted a drug trafficking network in Mercedes.
On Wednesday, ten raids were carried out in Mercedes and one in Montevideo. Police seized 161 grammes of substances that tested positive for cocaine, three revolvers of different calibres, one air rifle, ammunition, a motorcycle, two cars, a drone, 16 mobile phones, a precision scale, $25,698 and USD 106.
Three adolescents — aged 16, 16 and 17 — were convicted of drug supply. Each will serve 12 months in detention at the facilities of the National Institute for Adolescent Social Inclusion (Inisa).
Two women, aged 44 and 27, were charged with preventive detention for 120 days for drug trafficking, internal firearms trafficking and ammunition, carrying firearms with altered characteristics and carrying a firearm as a repeat offender.
A 19-year-old youth received a sentence of three years and ten months in prison for drug supply. Two youths aged 20 and 22 received the same sentence, plus two counts of assault each.
Two people aged 23 were convicted to four years and one month in prison for drug supply; another 20-year-old youth received four years for the same offence. A 48-year-old man was sentenced to four years in prison for drug supply.
A 36-year-old man was convicted to two years in prison for aggravated harbouring, three counts of especially aggravated theft, two counts of damage and aggravated minor personal injuries.
Finally, a 22-year-old youth received a sentence of two years and eleven months for possession of narcotic substances.
