Operation in Durazno: firearm linked to homicide in Montevideo seized and four detained
A police operation in Durazno resulted in four arrests and the seizure of a firearm sought in connection with a homicide in Montevideo, along with crack cocaine and ammunition.

According to elacontecer.com.uy, personnel from the Investigations Directorate and the Departmental Anti-Drugs Brigade established that a van was transporting narcotics destined for drug distribution points in the city of Durazno. The operation concluded with four people detained and the seizure of a firearm sought in connection with a homicide case being investigated in Montevideo.
With the support of the Tactical Reserve Group and Highway Police, officers intercepted the vehicle at a roadside checkpoint and identified its four occupants: two adolescents aged 15 and 17 years, and two men aged 22 and 26 years, the latter with a criminal record.
During the vehicle inspection, a Renault van, 530 grammes of crack cocaine, a 9 mm calibre pistol, a magazine containing 17 cartridges of 9 mm calibre, money in Uruguayan pesos, and three mobile phones were seized.
The recovered firearm was sought by the Homicide Department of Montevideo's Directorate of Complex Cases.
The competent prosecutor's office ordered the detention of the four accused and the seizure of all items found. The investigation is ongoing.
