GRT police officer shot three times in Punta de Rieles during robbery attempt
An officer from the Tactical Reserve Group was wounded by gunfire in the chest, arm and hip whilst resisting a motorcycle robbery. He was transferred to Police Hospital in serious condition.

An off-duty police officer from the Tactical Reserve Group (GRT) was shot on Thursday afternoon in the Punta de Rieles neighbourhood, according to confirmation provided to montevideo.com.uy by police sources.
The incident occurred at the intersection of Capricornio and Sagitario streets. The officer was on his motorcycle in front of his partner's home when three criminals approached him and demanded the vehicle.
Upon refusing to hand it over, the attackers opened fire. The uniformed officer managed to repel the assault, but received three impacts: one in the chest, another in the arm and one in the hip.
He was transferred to Police Hospital in serious condition. Scientific Police personnel attended the scene to conduct a survey of the incident site.
