Police officer films arrest of two thieves who attempted to steal his motorcycle in Villa Colón
A 47-year-old police officer thwarted an attempted robbery on Sunday in Montevideo and recorded the arrest of the criminals. The Interior Ministry confirmed being aware of the video.

A 47-year-old police officer who was heading to work was the victim of an attempted motorcycle theft last Sunday at the intersection of Calderón de la Barca and Francisco de los Santos streets, in Villa Colón, according to montevideo.com.uy.
Two criminals on foot attempted to snatch the vehicle from the officer. The official gave a warning and began firing to prevent the theft. Following this, the attackers fled the scene.
Authorities pursued them through security camera monitoring and managed to detain both individuals.
The officer filmed the moment one of them was being arrested and expressed his indignation with angry words. "There are those criminals. These are the ones who pull you off the motorcycle, you come from working… Look, look, you bastard, aren't you a thief? Deal with it," the officer can be heard saying in the video. The officer was at that moment performing a service 222.
In another part of the recording, the man stated that "you have to kill them like a dog" and added: "One works oneself to death and look at this."
Sources from the Interior Ministry told montevideo.com.uy that they are aware of the video, although they noted that so far they have not received any formal complaint regarding it. The same sources highlighted that, based on what can be seen in the images, the officer did not depart from the established protocol at any moment.
From the ministry they also indicated understanding the officer's anger following the episode of tension he experienced.
