Shooting in Marconi ends with one detained and modified Glock seized
A 28-year-old man was detained following a shootout in the Marconi neighbourhood of Montevideo. Police seized a Glock 45 pistol modified for automatic fire from him.

An intense shootout in the Marconi neighbourhood of Montevideo ended on Wednesday night with one detained and a Glock 45 pistol modified out of circulation, according to subrayado.com.uy.
The gunshots were detected by the Police's Shotspotter system. Officers from the Guardia Republicana who were at the intersection of Enrique Castro and Aparicio Sarabia travelled to Artagaveytia and Pasaje Cibeles, where they found several armed individuals.
Upon sighting the police vehicle, the subjects opened fire on the officers. The agents descended from the vehicle and pursued the criminals through the passages in the area, during which an exchange of gunfire was recorded. The Guardia Republicana requested reinforcements from the Dirección General de Operaciones Especiales (DGOE).
During the pursuit, a 28-year-old man with three prior criminal convictions was detained. He was found in possession of a Glock 45 modified for automatic fire, equipped with an extended magazine and capacity for 30 rounds. No police officers were injured and the vehicles sustained no damage.
Similar episodes, with dozens of shots fired, have been repeated in recent days in different neighbourhoods of Montevideo, including Marconi, Cauceglia, Cotravi and Manga.
