Four arrested in Falcón for transporting 3,692 kilos of cocaine by speedboat
A court in Falcón state ordered the detention of four men accused of transporting over 3,600 kilos of cocaine in Venezuelan Caribbean waters.
Four detained for drug trafficking off Falconese coast
A court in Falcón state issued a detention order against Joel Rodríguez Ramos, Jesús Antonio Quilarque Carreño, Jhonny José Salazar Gutiérrez and Carlos Alberto Bravo Lemus, accused of transporting 3,692 kilograms of cocaine aboard a Go Fast-type speedboat in the Caribbean Sea, according to reporting by eldiariodeguayana.com.ve.
The attorney general of the Republic, Tarek William Saab, announced that the four accused individuals were prosecuted by the Public Ministry of the Falcón entity under charges of aggravated illicit trafficking of narcotic and psychotropic substances.
According to Saab, authorities seized 100 sacks of drugs from the detainees, distributed in packets. The vessel was intercepted eight miles off Zamora municipality, whose capital is Puerto Cumarebo, in Falcón state.
The Venezuelan executive accused the four men of being DEA agents. President Nicolás Maduro's administration asserted that the shipment was part of a "DEA false flag operation" designed to implicate Venezuela, and that the seizure allowed the dismantling of this manoeuvre.
The Venezuelan Government had publicly announced the seizure days before the court proceeded with the detention orders.
