Venezuelan arrested as coordinator in 'La China Polo' murder: Yape money trail exposes gang
Police captured Adrián Solís Ruíz in Calabozo, alleged logistics coordinator of the murder of Susy Aponte Polo. Bank transfers and testimony point to the mastermind.

Arrest in Venezuela brings justice closer to mastermind of Susy Aponte Polo murder
Venezuelan police detained Adrián Solís Ruíz in Calabozo, identified as the principal logistics coordinator of the homicide of Susy Aponte Polo, known as 'La China Polo', according to willax.pe. The suspect was captured after attempting to flee a hospital where he was receiving treatment for a serious traffic accident.
For the Peruvian National Police, the arrest represents a decisive advance: with Solís Ruíz in custody, authorities now have detained the shooter, the financier, and the logistics coordinator of the criminal operation.
The Caraz murder and progressive dismantling of the gang
The case began to be reconstructed on 19 September in Huaylas province, Áncash. Police officers apprehended Venezuelan Luis Iván Obispo Díaz moments after he carried out the armed attack during a public event. Questioned immediately, the hired killer admitted to having acted within a planned structure.
Investigations revealed that a coordinated team was responsible for financing Obispo Díaz's transfers, monitoring the victim's schedule, and ensuring logistics in the Caraz area. Each movement responded to a chain of command with defined roles.
The financier and the aliases guiding the investigation
In a later phase, agents identified Ronald Toro Ardila as responsible for covering operational expenses: accommodation, food, and communication chips, all paid for with money delivered by third parties to ensure continuous surveillance of Aponte Polo.
Before the Public Prosecutor's Office, Toro Ardila declared that he had been hired by a woman known by the alias 'Gocha', identified as Geraldine. The hired killer Obispo Díaz himself provided a complementary account: when asked about the identity of the principal contractor, he was given the alias 'Pure'. Experts are analysing both identities to determine whether they acted as direct links to the top of organised crime.
The money trail and Yape transfers
The detention of Solís Ruíz will allow authorities to compare the testimony gathered so far with bank transfers recorded in the file. The authorities seek to clarify the flow of money—which reportedly circulated through the Yape platform—used to finance the transfer of those involved from abroad to Peruvian territory.
Before being murdered, Susy Aponte Polo had publicly reported the presence and intimidation of criminal factions in her region. Preliminary investigations consider possible links with members of the 'La Jauría' gang and also with the criminal organisation 'Los Pulpos', of Trujillo origin.
Authorities are working to clarify whether the motive for the crime stems from territorial disputes or specific political interests.
Extradition in preparation
Solís Ruíz's testimony before judicial authorities will be decisive in identifying the mastermind of the homicide. With this advance, the public prosecutor's office is preparing the corresponding extradition request to prosecute the suspect in Peru.
