Mariana Alejandra Guerrero Matheus, 20 years old, died in a medical facility in Caracas after remaining eleven days in hospital following being shot by her partner, an active officer of the Bolivarian National Police (PNB). The incident occurred in the Catia sector, Sucre parish of Libertador municipality, according to noticiasdeaqui.co.
The national director of the Cicpc, Douglas Rico, confirmed that the attack occurred during an argument inside a room. The victim's mother heard the gunshot, went to the scene and found her daughter gravely wounded. She immediately requested help to transport her to the medical facility, where the young woman died.
The attacker, 21 years old, was detained by PNB officers and handed over to the prosecution of the Public Ministry. Commissions of the Scientific, Criminal and Forensic Investigation Corps (Cicpc) are continuing investigations to establish the exact circumstances of the crime. Authorities are working with a preliminary hypothesis of a crime of passion motivated by jealousy.
