Venezuelan political prisoner detained and released again in Portuguesa after his release from jail
Jesús Suárez, released on Friday in Táchira, was detained on Sunday at a checkpoint in Portuguesa state and set free hours later.

Human rights organisations denounce re-victimisation of Jesús Suárez, released and detained again within 48 hours
Albertonews.com reported that the Coalition for Human Rights and Democracy denounced on Sunday the "re-victimisation" of political prisoner Jesús Suárez, detained again hours after having regained his freedom under restrictive measures.
"We repudiate the re-victimisation against Jesús Suárez, a Táchira native released this Friday in Táchira state, detained again this Sunday in Portuguesa state and subsequently freed. This undermines the emotional stability of those who have spent years behind bars," the coalition published on its X account.
Suárez had remained in prison for more than two years, accused of being linked to a "conspiratorial plot" aimed at "attacking" then-president Nicolás Maduro and senior officials of the Venezuelan government. A court ordered his release on Friday, one day after justice had sentenced ten people and acquitted four others in the same case, among them Spanish-Venezuelan activist Rocío San Miguel.
Alix Suárez, sister of the released man, explained in a video distributed by the NGO that Jesús left on Saturday afternoon from Táchira heading to Caracas, where he was to appear at a hearing to formally close the case. On Sunday morning he was intercepted at a checkpoint in Portuguesa state, in the centre of the country.
Hours later, the Committee for the Freedom of Political Prisoners (Clipp) confirmed on X that Suárez had been set free. Human rights activist and defender Javier Tarazona stressed on the same social network the need for effective guarantees for victims.
