Man critically injured in assault at Ballivor, Co Meath — suspect in his 40s detained
A man in his 20s is in a critical condition after an assault at a residential property in Ballivor, Co Meath. A man in his 40s has been arrested and is being questioned.

Man critically injured in Ballivor assault, suspect held for questioning
The Irish Times reports that a man in his 20s was left in a critical condition in hospital on Monday night following an assault at a residential property in Ballivor, Co Meath.
Gardaí and emergency services were called to the scene shortly after 7am on Monday. The injured man sustained serious injuries and was initially taken to Mullingar Hospital before being transferred to Beaumont Hospital in Dublin.
A man in his 40s was subsequently arrested in connection with the incident and was being detained on Monday night under Section 4 of the Criminal Justice Act, which permits questioning for up to 24 hours.
The Garda Technical Bureau has carried out a full technical examination of the property. A senior investigating officer has been appointed to lead the investigation, which is being co-ordinated from the incident room at Trim Garda Station.
