A 52-year-old man from Portlaoise faces four drugs charges after gardaí allegedly found crack cocaine and diamorphine on him in De Vesci Court.

Portlaoise man faces four charges after drugs found during stop and search

Laois-nationalist.ie reports that gardaí stopped and searched a man in De Vesci Court, Fairgreen, Portlaoise on 11 February, allegedly finding crack cocaine and diamorphine in his possession.

Garda Sgt JJ Kirby alleged that John McInerney (52), of Cosby Avenue, Fairgreen, Portlaoise, was stopped at that location. As a result, McInerney was charged with two counts of possessing controlled drugs for his own use and two counts of possessing drugs for sale or supply.

Sgt Kirby requested a two-month adjournment to allow for the compilation of a book of evidence.

Judge Susan Fay remanded McInerney on continuing bail to the 27 April sitting of the court. Free legal aid was granted to his solicitor, Matthew Byrne.
