Man in 20s critical after Ballivor assault, man in 40s arrested

A man in his 20s is in a critical condition in hospital following an assault at a residence in Ballivor, Co Meath. A man in his 40s has been arrested in connection with the incident.

A man in his 20s is in a critical condition in hospital after sustaining serious injuries during an assault at a residential property in Ballivor, Co Meath, RTÉ News reports.

Gardaí responded to the incident shortly after 7am on Sunday morning. The injured man was initially brought to a local hospital before being transferred to Beaumont Hospital in Dublin.

A man in his 40s was subsequently arrested in connection with the investigation. He is being held and questioned under Section 4 of the Criminal Justice Act, which permits detention of up to 24 hours.

Investigators have conducted a technical examination of the scene. A senior investigating officer has been appointed to lead the case, and an incident room has been established at Trim Garda Station.

Gardaí are appealing for witnesses to come forward. Anyone with information, camera footage, or dashcam recordings is asked to contact Trim Garda Station directly.
