A man in his 50s has been charged in connection with an alleged assault on Independent TD Michael Healy-Rae in Dublin, TheJournal.ie reports.
Gardaí confirmed the charge in a press statement on Thursday night. The man is due to appear before Dublin District Court at the Criminal Courts of Justice at 10.30am on Friday.
The alleged assault took place on Wednesday afternoon, shortly after 4pm, as the Kerry TD was stopped in traffic on Cork Street, near the Coombe hospital, while travelling home from Dáil Éireann.
"A man in his 50s, arrested in connection with this investigation, has been charged," the Garda Press Office said, adding that the investigation remains ongoing.
