1,400 Pounds of Ganja Seized in Westmoreland Drug Operation

Police recovered roughly 1,400 lbs of ganja across two locations in Westmoreland on Wednesday night. Two men were taken into custody.

Two Westmoreland Communities Targeted in Coordinated Ganja Raids

Jamaica Gleaner reports that police seized approximately 1,400 pounds of ganja during a coordinated operation across two Westmoreland communities on Wednesday night.

The first seizure occurred around 8:00 pm in Little London, where officers discovered 37 knitted bags containing vegetable matter resembling ganja stored beneath a shed. That haul weighed an estimated 1,000 pounds.

Just three minutes later, at 8:03 pm, a separate team searched the neighbouring community of Bluefields, where they reportedly located a ganja field alongside a nearby shed. An additional 400 pounds were recovered at that site.

Two men were taken into custody in connection with both seizures.

The Firearms and Narcotics Investigation Division is leading the investigation into the matter.
