Jamaica-gleaner.com reports that a 36-year-old businessman was fatally shot and a visiting Czech medical doctor wounded during a robbery at a beachside restaurant along Norman Manley Boulevard in Negril, Westmoreland, on Friday night.

The deceased has been identified as Nashon McGibbon, known as 'Bubba', a business operator of Tigres Lane in West End, Negril, and owner of Flag City Restaurant near Cayenne Beach.

According to police, the attack occurred at approximately 8:40 p.m. while McGibbon was seated at a section of the beach near his establishment with three employees. A Czech medical doctor, who had just been served a meal as a customer, was also present at the table.

Witnesses told investigators that a motorcycle carrying two men pulled up to the location. Both men were wearing hoodies covering their heads. They allegedly approached the table where McGibbon and the others were seated, produced handguns, and opened fire.

McGibbon fled and was pursued by the attackers into an open field, where he collapsed from multiple gunshot wounds to his upper body. The gunmen allegedly seized two bags containing cash before escaping on the motorcycle.

Officers who responded to the scene found McGibbon lying face down in the field. He was transported to the Savanna-la-Mar Public General Hospital, where he was pronounced dead.

The Czech visitor, who had been seated close to McGibbon at the time of the shooting, sustained a gunshot wound to his left shoulder. He was admitted to a hospital in Negril in serious but stable condition.

Investigators are continuing to probe the incident. No arrests have been reported.
