Suspect in Buff Bay bar shooting apprehended after three-year manhunt

The Jamaica Observer reports that a man wanted in connection with the shooting of a recording artiste has been arrested in St Andrew following a coordinated police operation.

Daveian Lewis, 'Rasta', a chef from Central Avenue in Greenwich Town, had evaded authorities for three years before being taken into custody on Friday.

Lewis was caught through a joint intelligence-led operation involving the Area 2 and Area 4 Fugitive Apprehension Teams. He was subsequently handed over to the Constant Spring Police Station and was set to be transferred to the Buff Bay Police Station in Portland.

Police had been seeking Lewis in connection with the shooting and injuring of a 25-year-old entertainer at a bar in Buff Bay. According to reports, at approximately 12:55 pm on April 1, 2023, a gunman approached the artiste, who was at the bar with several others, opened fire, and fled the scene.

Investigators identified Lewis as a person of interest and had previously called on him to turn himself in to the authorities.
