A German national allegedly found with two kilograms of cocaine at Norman Manley International Airport in Kingston has been granted bail, jamaica-gleaner.com reports.

Sy Alanis Rickards was offered bail in the sum of $300,000 at the Kingston and St Andrew Parish Court on Friday, following an application by her attorney, Able-Don Foote. She has been ordered to surrender her passport to authorities, and a stop order has been placed on her at all ports of entry and exit.

According to reports, Rickards was attempting to board an outgoing flight at approximately 7:45am on September 4 when security screening of her suitcase detected abnormalities, arousing the suspicion of police. The cocaine was allegedly uncovered during a subsequent search of the luggage.

She has been charged with possession of, dealing in, and exporting cocaine.

Foote argued during the bail application that it would be untenable to keep Rickards in custody while the prosecution's file remained incomplete. He submitted that the court had sufficient conditions available to ensure his client would appear to answer the charges.

Rickards is scheduled to return to court on September 17.
